Find Worcester County Released Inmates

Worcester County released inmates records are managed by the Worcester County Jail on Joyner Road in Snow Hill and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office. Unlike some Maryland counties, Worcester does not offer an online inmate search tool. To find released inmates records here, you will need to call the jail, visit in person, use the statewide Maryland Judiciary Case Search, or file a written request under the Maryland Public Information Act. The county's PIA coordinator handles formal records requests and can help you get booking details, charges, release dates, and other data tied to people who have been in custody.

No Online Search Inmate Lookup

Worcester County does not run an online inmate lookup. That means you cannot just type a name into a website and pull up released inmates records the way you can in some other Maryland counties. There are still several ways to get the information, though. Each one works, and the best choice depends on how fast you need the data and how much detail you are looking for.

The fastest method is a phone call. The Worcester County Jail operates a 24-hour phone line at (410) 632-1300. Staff can tell you if a person is currently in custody or has been released. They can usually confirm a release date over the phone. For detailed records like charge sheets, mugshots, or full booking files, they will ask you to submit a written request.

In-person visits work too. The jail is at 5022 Joyner Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863. You can go there during business hours and ask to see released inmates records. Bring a valid photo ID. The Sheriff's Office Records Division is at 1 W. Market Street, Room 1001, Snow Hill, MD 21863. That office handles formal records requests and can pull files from the jail system.

The third option is the Maryland Judiciary Case Search, which covers court records statewide. More on that below.

Note: Because Worcester County has no online inmate search, the statewide tools listed later on this page are especially useful for finding released inmates from this county.

Worcester County Jail and Released Inmates

The Worcester County Jail at 5022 Joyner Road is the main detention facility. It holds people awaiting trial and those serving shorter sentences. All bookings and releases for the county pass through this facility. Staff log every intake with a full set of data, including the person's name, date of birth, charges, bond amount, court dates, and release information.

Sheriff Matthew Crisafulli oversees law enforcement and jail operations. The Sheriff's main number is (410) 632-1111. The jail line at (410) 632-1300 runs around the clock. If you call outside of normal business hours, staff can still check custody status and confirm whether someone has been released. For anything beyond a basic status check, you will want to contact the Records Division during business hours.

Worcester County Jail page with information about detention services and released inmates

The Worcester County Jail page has contact details, visiting hours, and information about facility services.

Worcester County started offering video visitation in April 2021 through Zoom. Visitors must fill out required forms before scheduling a session. In-person visiting hours run Sunday through Wednesday and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, with Saturday afternoon hours ending at 3:00 PM. No visitation happens on Thursday or Friday. These details matter if you are trying to confirm that someone was at the facility before their release.

Request Worcester County Released Inmates Records

The Maryland Public Information Act is the formal path for getting released inmates records from Worcester County. GP Section 4-201 says public records must be open for inspection. Released inmates records qualify. Anyone can request them, regardless of where they live or why they want the information.

Worcester County has a designated PIA coordinator who handles these requests. The contact is Kim Moses, and the office is at 1 W. Market Street, Room 1103, Snow Hill, MD 21863. You can reach her by phone at (410) 632-1194 or by email at worcesterpia@co.worcester.md.us. Put your request in writing. Include the full name of the person you are asking about, their date of birth if you have it, and the approximate time frame. Spell out exactly what records you want, whether that is booking records, release dates, charge sheets, mugshots, or something else. The more specific your request, the faster it gets processed.

Under GP Section 4-203, the county has 30 days to respond. Many requests get done sooner. If they need more time, they must notify you in writing and explain the reason. The county can deny parts of a request if the records fall under one of the PIA exemptions, but they have to cite the specific exemption and give you the option to appeal.

Worcester County adopted Resolution 07-14, which sets its local PIA fee schedule. Fees follow the state guidelines in GP Section 4-206(c). The first two hours of search and prep time are free. After that, the county charges actual staff costs. Copies cost $0.25 per page. Electronic records are usually free. If you believe your request serves a public interest, you can ask for a fee waiver under Section 4-206(e).

Note: Worcester County also adopted Resolution 03-18 for 911 records requests specifically. If you need records related to a 911 call tied to an arrest, that resolution applies on top of the standard PIA rules.

Statewide Tools for Worcester County Released Inmates

Because Worcester County does not have its own online inmate search, the statewide databases are especially important here. Three free tools can help you find released inmates from the county.

The Maryland Judiciary Case Search is the most useful starting point. It covers all court records in the state, including Worcester County's 1st Judicial Circuit. Search by name or case number to find charge details, court dates, dispositions, and sentencing outcomes. This tool does not show jail booking or release data directly, but it gives you case numbers and charge information that help you write a more targeted records request to the jail or the PIA coordinator.

The VINELink Maryland system tracks custody status across county jails and state prisons. If someone was booked into the Worcester County Jail, VINELink should have a record. The system shows whether a person is in custody or has been released. You can register for alerts that notify you by phone, email, or text when a status changes. The service is available 24 hours a day. Call 866-727-2846 for the toll-free information line.

The DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator is the state prison search tool. It tracks people serving sentences in Maryland state facilities. If a Worcester County inmate got a sentence over 18 months, they would have been transferred to a state facility after sentencing. The DPSCS tool shows name, date of birth, facility, and inmate ID. It does not cover county jails, and it does not list people who have already completed their state sentences.

What Worcester County Released Inmates Records Include

A standard released inmates record from Worcester County contains the core data points required by state law. The booking section lists the person's full legal name, any known aliases, date of birth, and physical description. A mugshot taken at intake is part of the file. Each person gets assigned an inmate identification number used by the jail.

The record also captures the booking date and time, all charges filed, bond or bail amounts, scheduled court dates, and the court location. The custody status field shows whether the person is held, out on bond, or has been released. When someone leaves the facility, the release date and type of release get added. Common types include bond release, time served, transfer to state custody, and court-ordered release.

CS Section 3-601 requires every detention facility in Maryland to keep detailed records on each person in custody. CS Section 3-612 lists the specific data points that must be tracked. These include booking information, charges, court dates, sentences, and release details. Some information stays restricted. Medical records, mental health evaluations, and juvenile records cannot be released. Social Security numbers get stripped before any documents go out to the public. The records custodian reviews each request and removes protected material.

Worcester County Jail Mail and Contact

Mail for inmates at the Worcester County Jail goes to a specific address. Send all mail to: Inmate Name and ID Number, Worcester County Jail, PO Box 189, Snow Hill, MD 21863. Include the person's full name and inmate identification number on the envelope. Mail without proper identification may be returned.

This comes up often when people search for released inmates. If you were corresponding with someone at the jail and lost contact, a release is the most likely reason. Check the person's status through VINELink or call the jail at (410) 632-1300 to confirm. If the person has been released, any remaining mail at the facility would typically be forwarded or returned to sender.

Maryland Law and Worcester County Released Inmates

Maryland's legal framework for released inmates records rests on two main bodies of law. The Public Information Act in the General Provisions Article handles public access. The Correctional Services Article governs how facilities keep and share inmate data. The Worcester County Jail and Sheriff's Office follow both sets of rules when you ask for records.

GP Section 4-201 says all public records are open for inspection unless a specific exemption applies. Released inmates records are public records. The law does not require you to state a reason for asking. GP Section 4-203 sets the 30-day response window. GP Section 4-206(c) caps fees at actual cost and gives you two free hours of search and preparation time. These rules apply to every county in the state, including Worcester.

On the corrections side, CS Section 3-601 mandates that every facility maintain detailed records on each person in custody. The Worcester County Jail must track bookings, charges, court dates, sentences, and releases. CS Section 3-612 spells out the specific data fields. COMAR 12.02.24.07 adds state regulations requiring written requests for inmate case records. The Maryland Attorney General's PIA page has guidance on how to use these laws to get the records you need.

Worcester County Sheriff and Records Division

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office oversees the jail and handles law enforcement across the county. Sheriff Matthew Crisafulli's office is at 1 W. Market Street, Snow Hill, MD 21863. The main phone number is (410) 632-1111. The Records Division sits in Room 1001 at the same address.

For released inmates records, the Records Division and the PIA coordinator are the two main contacts. The Records Division can pull files from the jail system and provide copies of booking records, charge sheets, and release documents. The PIA coordinator handles formal written requests under the Maryland Public Information Act. Between the two offices, you can get any released inmates record that the county holds, as long as the data is not exempt under state law.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office website has general contact information, press releases, and details about law enforcement services. The county jail page is where you will find visiting hours, facility rules, and phone numbers for the detention center.

Note: Worcester County's jail phone line at (410) 632-1300 operates 24 hours a day. This is the fastest way to check on a person's custody status or confirm a release, even outside of normal business hours.
